On the timing

Lakshmi puja is performed in pradosh kaal — the roughly two-hour window beginning about 45 minutes after sunset — and, where the family follows it, within a sthir lagna such as Vrishabha.

Published muhurats for 2026 sit around 6:29 pm to 8:29 pm.

That window is computed for one city. Sunset in Prayagraj, Mumbai and Chennai differs by more than half an hour, and the muhurat moves with it. Take the window for your own city from a panchang or your purohit rather than from this page.

Before the day
  • Order the pujan kit at least ten days ahead — the courier network is at its slowest in the fortnight before Diwali.
  • Kheel, batasha and the chopda pujan items are in the box; flowers, fruit and sweets are yours to arrange.
  • Count your diyas against the rooms you intend to light. Our kit carries 21.
Dates checked against

Festival dates follow the tithi and are computed for a location. Two panchangs for cities a few hundred kilometres apart can differ by a day. Confirm against a panchang for your own city before you fix anything around it.
